St Mary's Safeguarding Team

DSL

Karen Riddell

Deputy DSL's

Emma Grassby

At St Mary's Catholic Primary, the safety and well-being of our pupils is of paramount importance.

The people above are our safeguarding team and are available to speak to if you have any concerns.

If you wish to discuss any aspect of safeguarding, please speak to the office staff on 01304 375046 or email [email protected] and they will arrange a meeting with one of our DSLs.

If you are a member of staff, please use CPOMs to record your concerns under the categories 'behaviour' or 'safeguarding'

If you are a visitor or volunteer, please use a 'Green Niggle Form' to record your concerns - these can be found in the school office. Once completed, please pass to one of the DSLs.

We have a broad and balanced curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral and cultural development of pupils and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

We teach the Pupils about the British Values which affirm the basic principles of a just and fair society.  These principles align well with the Church’s teaching on the ‘Common Good’.

The ethos of St Mary’s is one of respect for all, regardless of faith, culture or difference. In RE, pupils are taught about other faiths in order to promote respect and tolerance.

The Government’s ‘Prevent Strategy’ came into force on 1st July 2015 .The purpose of this strategy is to safeguard children from extremist views and violence.  Schools are obliged to make a statement to parents, informing them of the steps being taken to ensure that pupils do not become embittered and resentful of other faiths and cultures through a lack of knowledge and understanding.
